HSC was founded when an advertisement in the local paper invited interested residents to a meeting on the 8th September 1971.
Since 1971 the club has moved on a great deal and now has nine different squads covering a wide range of abilities. During the years we have been able to claim many individual successes including those who, to gain more experience, moved to larger clubs and went on to find great success. Notably two Olympic trialists in 1996 and one whose aspirations for 2000 Olympics should, if all goes well, be rewarded. In more recent times having had the services of a nationally acclaimed coach we have maintained a high profile at Open Meets, Age Group and National competitions and currently have a Welsh Champion in our squad.
